Homework

January 6 to 10th
Mathtastic Folder:
Subtraction with regrouping - I have enclosed a poem that helps us remember when to trade 10'/borrow. Use the wording to help assist your child with the new task of regrouping.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words regarding my recent absence due to a family emergency. You may have noticed some stuffies coming home from me. My Mom collected bears and we thought it might be a nice way to explain my absence by passing some of them on to new owners who might also be able to give them some love.

I will be giving some of you a call, just to touch base about reporting and clarify some questions. It may take some time but I'm hoping to get through a few phone calls next week as time allows.

October 28 to Nov. 1
Mathtastic Folder
'Almost Neighbours' -students have been busy learning how to think through this strategy. We used ten frames to move the dots to show how easily close numbers can make double facts. (I suggested using objects from home to practice this strategy...buttons, cheerios, pennies would work great). Our next step is to take all our strategies and use them with addition and subtracting with regrouping.

Upcoming Dates
Oct. 31 -Halloween parade (I sent a note home outlining the timing of the event)
Nov. 19th - Safety village trip
